OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma Veterans Council honored a man that has been waiting for more than 60 years to get his medals.
Harold Garven was a First Lieutenant during World War II, but because of missing paperwork he was never honored properly for his service. However, on Wednesday that all changed. Garven was awarded several medals including a bronze star.
"I never made any effort to get them. All I wanted to do was get out of the service and go back to living again," Garven said.
Garven didn't stop serving when he made it home. He later served as a state senator in Oklahoma.
