OKLAHOMA CITY -- Shopping for school clothes and supplies can be a daunting expense for many families. That's why one group is helping families with foster children get their kids ready to go back to school.
Volunteers teamed up to take metro foster kids back to school shopping. The Citizens Caring for Children Resource Center at 730 West Wilshire has everything foster kids need to go back to school in style.
The resource center provides for free, new clothes, shoes and supplies. Children from Kindergarten through 12th grade can pick out two outfits, two pairs of shoes, socks and underwear.
"The kids are at ease when they come in here. It's a nice environment, almost like the way I told my group, it's like you're at an Old Navy store," said Ray McQuistan, volunteer.
Glenda Bell, a foster mother of two, said the service is a lifesaver.
"These kids, you don't know what they've been through when they come out of these homes, or being taken from their home. They need this," Bell said.
