Man Sentenced to 22 Years After Ex-Wife Dies During Robbery

An Oklahoma City bank robber was sentenced to 22 years in prison after his wife was killed during a bank heist in July 2009.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- An Oklahoma City bank robber was sentenced to 22 years in prison after his wife was killed during a bank heist in July 2009.

Samuel Lewis and his ex-wife Barbara Lewis got into a shootout with a guard as they tried to rob a MidFirst Bank in northwest Oklahoma City. She died and he suffered a wound to his chest.

Lewis pleaded no contest to the murder and to shooting at a security guard with intent to kill. He pleaded guilty to attempted armed robbery.
