OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma City firefighters and Oklahoma Natural Gas crews say there has been a gas leak on the city's northwest side.

No injuries were reported but the Advance Auto Parts store at 3217 N. May Avenue was evacuated after the incident about 9:45 a.m. Tuesday.

ONG spokesman Don Sherry says a plumbing contractor using a backhoe to work on a sewer line accidentally cut a 2-inch, medium pressure gas line. Sherry says gas to the line has been shut off and work is under way to repair the rupture.

Sherry says 22 customers will be without natural gas service until repairs are completed -- likely by mid-afternoon Tuesday.
