OKLAHOMA CITY -- A woman was killed and a teen was critically injured in separate one-car accidents, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports.
A 54-year-old Fort Towsen woman was killed Sunday morning on State Highway 3 in Atoka County. Brenda Kay Butler died of head injuries after she was ejected from her 2002 GMC at about 8 a.m.
Butler was westbound on State Highway 3 when her vehicle ran off the right side of the highway, veered back to the left, overcorrected and flipped two times. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown about 20 feet from the vehicle, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Investigators said they believe the accident was caused after the driver fell asleep at the wheel.
An Oklahoma City teen was injured Saturday afternoon on Interstate 35 in Love County. Thanh Ngoc Ngo, 19, was admitted to a Dallas hospital in critical condition after being thrown about 130 feet from his car.
Troopers said Ngo was southbound on I-35 at about 1:49 a.m. when he lost control of his 1999 Lexus and went into a broadslide. The vehicle rolled four times before coming to rest on its wheels.
Ngo was not using a seat belt. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
The teen has head and internal injuries, according to the report.
