OKLAHOMA CITY -- The city council approved receiving grant funds to extend two walking trails in the Oklahoma City.

Earlywine Trail will receive just over $598,000 in grant funds and Tinker-Draper Trail will receive a little more than $589,000.

No date has yet to be set as to when construction will start on the trails.

There's also a move to clear up any loopholes in a city ordinance regarding what's allowed at Lake Hefner.

Recently, the city has received reports about people skiing by using inflatable tubes or rafts. Skiing is not allowed at Lake Hefner unless it's part of an event and a permit has been obtained. City leaders now want to change the city ordinance to include a more defined definition. The definition of water skiing would now read, "any act of planing over water while being towed by a watercraft."

City leaders voted to set a public hearing for August 3 and a final vote on August 17.

Alson on Tuesday's agenda, Council members talked about raising several fines including tickets for expired parking meters from $10 to $15 and raising fines for parking in an area that blocks a fire escape from $50 to $100. The fee for trespassing could also be raised from $15 to $50.

A new tire ordinance could require display tires kept outside to be brought inside from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The council also discussed increasing the fees for fishing and boating and talk about extending two walking trails in the metro.
