Bomb Squad Detonates Suspicious Backpack Found in Bricktown

The Oklahoma City Police Department bomb squad was called to Bricktown over a suspicious package.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City Police Department bomb squad was called to Bricktown over a suspicious package. Hazmat units were also called to the scene.

A suspicious backpack was reported near the Residence Inn at 400 E. Reno Avenue.

Police partially evacuated the hotel and cleared the hotel and Bass Pro Shop parking lots.

Crews retrieved the suspicious package with the bomb squad robot and detonated it on the range.

Police said the backpack was never a threat.
