Blackwell Man's Body Recovered from Chikaskia River

BLACKWELL, Oklahoma -- On Sunday, crews recovered the body of a 48-year-old Blackwell man who drowned in the Chikaskia River Friday evening, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Lindy Eugene Jefferson was last seen diving off a pipe below the State Highway 11 bridge just north of Blackwell at about 9:30 p.m.

Jefferson was swimming with friends when he dove off the pipe and never resurfaced, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers.

There have been 12 drownings in Oklahoma since June.
