STRATFORD, Oklahoma -- For the first time in 10 years, Stratford Peach producers have a bumper crop, which the Chamber of Commerce said should make for an exceptional Peach Festival this weekend.

"We've had so many people tell us there is nothing better than a Stratford Peach," said festival co-chair Cindy Johnson.

Peachcrest Farm in Stratford is run by Susan Bergen who said she never thought she would end up a farmer.

"I rode the subway to high school, went to Boston College, and was a stockbroker. Never ever ever. It wasn't anywhere on my horizon," Bergen said.

Now, she can't imagine doing anything else and said she adores peaches.

"I love the first ones I pick, I love the last ones I pick, I love all 28 varieties," Bergen said.

Peachcrest Farm employees do everything by hand, and the produce across 320 acres is all organic. Bergen said she can't wait to show off her crop at the Peach Festival, which she recommends Oklahomans attend.

"It's country innocence that we used to have 50 years ago. It's the best," Bergen said.

The 34th Annual Peach Festival goes from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Stratford City Park on Saturday. It kicks off with a free pancake breakfast from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
