Woman Dies in Overnight Car Wreck in Edmond

A woman died in an overnight car accident in Edmond, according to Edmond police.

EDMOND, Oklahoma -- A woman died in an overnight car accident in Edmond, according to Edmond police.

Police said the wreck occurred at about 2:15 a.m. Edmond police say 27-year-old Kirbi Wilson of Logan County failed to stop at a stop sign and ran off the road into a ditch at the intersection of Covell and Westminister roads.

According to Edmond police Wilson was not wearing a seatbelt and alcohol is suspected to have been a contributing factor to the crash.

A passenger in the car, 31-year-old Dustin Davenport of Wellston, was able to call 911. He sustained minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital. Davenport was wearing his seatbelt.

Police said this is the first fatality in Edmond this year.
