OKLAHOMA CITY -- It's hard to beat the heat when you work out in it.
Employees at dry cleaners have no choice; they can't run the air conditioner around equipment because of the hot steam needed to press clothes.
Employees at Fashion Cleaners in downtown Oklahoma City have found several ways to keep cool.
"But I just beat the heat, like I said, by drinking plenty of water, and I go home and shower and stay in. Don't go out period," said Gwen Hall, who works at Fashion Cleaners.
The employees at Fashion Cleaners said they come in early in the morning and try to finish by noon. Workers also drink a lot of water and take frequent breaks.
But what if your job is to sit for hours in the blazing heat?
"It's hot and miserable, but you have a job to do," said Billy Barnard, who is a lifeguard at White Water Bay.
Lifeguards at White Water Bay sweat it out to keep swimmers safe. And when it comes to their own safety, they said an occasional dive in the pool is the way they stay cool.
"Sometimes we do just dive in. We just have to make sure someone is watching our water before we get in," Barnard said.
