ENID, Oklahoma -- Enid police are investigating a robbery that turned into a homicide at a convenience store on the city's south side.

Police said a woman called 911 at about 3:14 a.m. Wednesday to say that the clerk at the Maine Street Mini Mart at Maine and S. 16th streets was unresponsive.

Officers arrived to the convenience store and found the clerk, 44-year-old Danial Glen Johnson, deceased. It is unclear how Johnson died.

"We don't have a lot of necessarily crime in the area and any armed robbery is a serious situation and we'll be investigating further," said Enid Police Lt. Eric Holtzclaw.

Enid police are looking for either a black or Hispanic male, with dark skin. He was last seen wearing a pull over hoody sweatshirt with the wording "State" on the front and possibly an overlay of "O" which may reference Oklahoma State. He was also wearing dark blue or black jeans, gloves and carried a white colored bag.

The incident is not the first time a homicide has taken place at the store. In February 2007, one person was shot and killed outside the store. The shooter later pleaded guilty to a charge of first-degree murder.

Anyone having information that will lead to the arrest or prosecution of the crime is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 233-6233. Callers can earn a reward up to $1,000.00. Callers will not be required to testify and will not be identified. Callers may also contact the Enid Police Department with information.
