Broken Arrow Police Identify Victim In Fatal Hit And Run Accident

BROKEN ARROW, OK -- Broken Arrow Police need your help finding two drivers who were involved in a deadly hit and run that killed a Coweta man.

Police say it's one of the more frustrating cases they've ever worked.

Kevin Porter died early Saturday morning after his motorcycle was struck by one vehicle, then his body was dragged a mile by another vehicle.

Early Saturday morning, Broken Arrow Police investigated two seemingly disconnected scenes, only to discover a body found in front of the Blue Bell Creamery on Highway 51 is the owner of a wrecked motorcycle found a mile east.

Three days later, and Broken Arrow Police are still trying to piece together the last few moments of Porter's life.

"I can tell you this is one of the most difficult ones that I have encountered," said Sgt. Ed Ferguson, Broken Arrow Police. 

They say Porter's motorcycle was hit by a vehicle in front of the Kings Palace Steakhouse, the driver of that car left the scene and Porter was ejected into the westbound lane. A few minutes later, another vehicle hit Porter and dragged his body a mile up the highway. The driver of that vehicle also remains unidentified.

"This entire situation may simply be an unavoidable tragedy that resulted in an accident. But we won't know that until we're able to talk to the parties involved and ask them, 'what happened,'" said Ferguson.

Police say they have little to no information from witnesses. Those at the scene could only describe the first vehicle as being white and police say it should have damage on the passenger side. 

The second vehicle is also unknown, but police expect it to have damage on the front, especially near the bumper and undercarriage. 

Investigators are looking for anyone who may have seen Mr. Porter late Friday night or anyone who can help identify the drivers of the two vehicles.

"But it's that human factor, the human element of 'what we saw, what we heard,' that's crucial to helping try to piece together or reconstruct a collision like this," said Ferguson.
