OKLAHOMA CITY -- Residents in the Tierra Vista neighborhood said they're doing their job, and now they want the city to do theirs.

Since the flooding that ruined a number of people's homes in the Tierra Vista area, residents said they have received lots of support from the community to help clean up debris left behind, but no one from the city has come to help remove the debris from their neighborhood.

"We saw a trash collector yesterday a dumpster truck, and that's all we've seen from the city," said Michelle Alpdoerffer, whose home was damaged in Monday's flood.

Some residents have even passed on getting dumpsters at a cost of $400 in hopes the city will step in and do it for them.

Fortunately, there may be some relief.

"We are working out the details, but we plan to have someone out there Monday," said Kristy Yeager, a spokesperson with Oklahoma City. "We know people want to get this stuff off of the curb and just take care of it as quickly as possible."

Which is why come Monday, a week from the flooding, the city said they'll be able to step in and help haul off debris, everything that is except for sheetrock.

In addition to not picking up sheetrock, the city said homeowners must separate their debris into piles, such as damaged personal property in one pile and household hazardous waste in another.

Residents said the help couldn't come soon enough. Outside residents' homes lay piles of debris. Some debris extends to the homeowners' roofs.

While the city said they will be able to help homeowners remove debris on Monday, they said those who had damage to commercial properties will need to hire a private company to have their debris removed
