OKLAHOMA CITY -- Filmmakers from all over the world will be in downtown Oklahoma City to kick off the 10th annual deadCENTER Film Festival beginning Wednesday evening.

Some of the biggest and most highly acclaimed names in filmmaking are in the state including Academy Award nominees Spike Jonze and Rinko Kikuchi who will be joining BMX pioneer and Oklahoma native Mat Hoffman at the festival in downtown Oklahoma City's Automobile Alley.

A "redCENTER lounge" fundraiser will be part of an upscale event to kick off the opening of the film festival at the Red Prime Steak from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets will be $100 a person with a chance to meet directors Spike Jonze and Rinko Kikuchi.

A public block party will kick off at 7:30 p.m. in the 500 block of Broadway Avenue in Automobile Alley for the premiere of "The Birth of Big Air," followed by live music and a VIP party.

"It is a huge deal for Oklahoma City. From where we started to where we are now it's huge," said Cacky Poarch, deadCENTER Film Festival director.

Poarch said it's hard for her to believe this premiere international independent film fest is in its 10th year.

"Compared to Sundance, we're a smaller festival, and it's something I'm very proud of because we're a very inclusive festival, so the all-access pass will get you access to all the parties, the filmmakers, which is part of the fun," Poarch said.

Mat Hoffman's documentary "The Birth of Big Air" is a free public outdoor screening that begins at 9:30 p.m.

The film festival last five days in seven locations and features over 100 films. Tickets are $10 for each film.
