OKLAHOMA CITY -- After a mortgage company went belly up, customers called the Consumer Watch Team for help.

Homeowner Dee Spires put it best when he said, "I was raised 'old school'. When I make an agreement, it's an agreement. I feel an obligation to pay what I owe."

Spires was referring to his mortgage, and the fact that his lender is accusing him of not making a payment, but he and his wife said they have proof they've made the payment.

The couple had a mortgage with Taylor, Bean and Whitaker. Like every month, last August they sent in their mortgage payment, but unbeknownst to them, the company had gone bankrupt.

It's been almost a year and they haven't been able to get their account credited, and now the debt collectors are calling.

Consumer Watch's Amanda Taylor stands up to the mortgage company and shows how far it got her, tonight on NEWS 9 at 10.
