OKLAHOMA CITY— The Central Oklahoma Humane Society (OK Humane) is hosting the "Midnight Woofness" Mega Adoption Event to find loving homes for more than 300 dogs and cats.

The event will kick off Friday, June 4 at midnight in the PetSmart parking lot on Interstate 240 and S. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue throughout the weekend until 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 6.

With the overwhelming amount of dogs and cats needing a home, some adoption fees will be as low as $10 during the midnight hours including spay/neuter, vaccinations and de-worming.

Partnering organizations for the event include PetSmart, the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter, Heartland Lab Rescue, Red Dirt Boxer Rescue and OK Save A Dog. They hope to reach a goal of 300 adoptions—which would be a record-breaking adoption event for the state of Oklahoma.

Adoptions will include a number of coupons, giveaways, goodies for people and treats for dogs.

"Our Midnight Woofness event is a critical component of Oklahoma City's goal to end needless euthanasia. If we achieve our goal it will mean 300 lives saved which is wonderful. What a perfect opportunity to adopt a family pet," said OK Humane's President Christy Counts.

In addition to the adoption opportunities, a special highlight throughout the weekend will be "A Woofsummer Night's Dream," featuring performances by Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park incorporating dogs as actors. For more information about the event, visit www.midnightwoofness.okhumane.org
