OKLAHOMA CITY— The "Made in Oklahoma" Farmers Market begins its sixth season at the Oklahoma State Department of Health.

The "Made in Oklahoma" Farmers Market at the Oklahoma State Department of Health is part of the agency's effort to improve the health of its employees and the public by providing opportunities to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables from local growers.

Oklahomans eat fewer fruits and vegetables than any other state.

This year, organizers are planning cooking demonstrations and presentations on safe food preparation, and early shoppers will get a free mesh shopping bag.

This Farmers Market is open to employees at the state health department's central office, as well as employees within the nearby OU Health Sciences Center and the public.

Beginning June 4, every Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the event will take place at the Oklahoma State Department of Health, located on 1000 Northeast 10th Street, Oklahoma City.
