Record Setting Donations Made To Feed Hungry Oklahomans

Posted: Updated:

OKLAHOMA CITY—Devon Energy presented the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma with a check for $588,000 in support of the 2010 Feeding Hope and Letter Carrier Food Drive on May 27. The record setting donation will provide more than four million meals for Oklahomans who are struggling to put food on their table this summer.

"This donation has really exceeded our expectations," said Rodney Bivens, executive director of the Regional Food Bank. "Devon Energy and its employees have shown tremendous leadership in our community as they continue to provide funding to sustain the feeding programs that help Oklahomans in need. We want to thank Devon for their continued commitment to fighting hunger in our state."

In addition, Devon Energy employees volunteered at two of the post office sites during the Letter Carriers Food Drive, and hundreds of Devon employees volunteered at the Food Bank during National Volunteer Week and throughout the year.

"The Regional Food Bank has become a favorite community cause among our employees," said Devon's Senior Vice President, Vince White, who also serves on the Regional Food Bank Foundation board. "We share the Regional Food Bank's passion for eliminating hunger in Oklahoma."

Volunteers are needed now more than ever as the Food Bank plans to distribute an additional 4.2 million pounds of product over the summer months, on top of their normal distribution.
