OKLAHOMA CITY -- A woman was trapped in her car after being attacked by pit bulls in Spencer, the Oklahoma County Sheriff's office reports.

It happened Monday morning when the woman was ambushed by the pack of dogs on her own property.

Some claim this isn't an isolated incident. Some neighbors are pretty angry about the problem. They say they've complained multiple times and have gotten no help. They say Monday morning's attack could have been prevented.

"I've got five puncture wounds. They had to put one or two little stitches in," said Mary.

The bandages are fresh and the memory of what happened is still raw.

"I was scared. I was afraid," Mary said.

It was about 8:00 a.m. when Mary noticed a pack of neighborhood pit bulls in her yard. She'd seen them before and went out to pet them.

"When they bit me hard, I began to defend myself is when it kicked off a whole feeding frenzy," said Mary.

Mary managed to get to her jeep, but getting the door shut was another challenge.

"Finally I just wedged their heads in between the door and eventually they pulled their heads out," Mary said.

The dogs surrounded her vehicle and continued to jump on it. Mary honked her horn and screamed for help. Finally, a neighbor heard her and called 911.

Mary asked NEWS9 not to show her face, saying she's concerned about causing problems among her neighbors.

"It's been an ordeal with these dogs," said Bill Newton, who is a neighbor of Mary.

But Newton isn't too worried about that. He says he has complained to the county several times, but nothing's been done. He says the dogs have killed several of his pets and came after he and his daughter.

"They took off running at us, so I grabbed her and I tried to put her up in a tree. And I thought, ‘they're going to overtake us,'" said Newton.

"Any dog has a tendency to have a pack mentality. I think that's probably what took place," said Mary.

Spencer Animal Control took the dogs into custody. The dogs are owned by a neighbor. The owner didn't want to go on camera.

At least one of the dogs recently got out of quarantine after an attack involving a neighborhood child.

Deputies are investigating the incident.
