OKLAHOMA CITY -- Republican state Sen. Jim Reynolds of Oklahoma City is planning to seek the Cleveland County Treasurer seat.
Reynolds announced his bid Friday. Reynolds has served in the Senate since 2000 and will become term-limited in 2012.
The seat currently is held by Democrat Saundra DeSelms, who announced she would not seek another term. DeSelms' First Deputy Mona Nelson announced last month she will seek the Democratic nomination.
If Reynolds is unsuccessful in his bid, he still would retain his Senate seat since his term does not expire until 2012.
