OKLAHOMA CITY -- A Durant banker has been reappointed for a third nine-year term on the state's higher education regents' board.

Gov. Brad Henry reappointed John Massey as a member of the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education and the state Senate confirmed the appointment last week. Massey is a former state representative and former state senator.

Massey's third term will last until May 2019.

Former Gov. David Walters originally appointed Massey as a regent in April 1992 and former Gov. Frank Keating reappointed Massey in 2001. Massey twice has served as the board's chairman.

Massey received his bachelor's degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant.

He now is the chairman of the board of Durant-based First United Bank and Trust.
