TULSA, OK -- A Tulsa man is being held on $50,000 bond after Tulsa paramedics and a firefighter told police he intentionally exposed them to HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C.

Daniel Paul Hedge, 46, was booked on four felony complaints of spreading an infectious disease and an additional four felony complaints of knowingly engaging in the transference of HIV/AIDS.

Hedge was arrested at St. John Hospital Saturday at 7 p.m. where he was being treated for injuries.

Tulsa Police and Fire received a call about an assault victim in the 2300 block of East Admiral Boulevard. When they arrived to the scene, Hedge became combative with three EMSA workers and one firefighter, according to a Tulsa Police Department arrest report.

The emergency workers told Tulsa Police that while they were treating Hedge's serious wounds, he would not cooperate as they tried to stop the bleeding. Instead, Hedge slung his head so that blood struck the workers and spit at them, telling them he had HIV and Hepatitis C.

Police say Hedge spit directly into a Tulsa Fire Department Captain's face and the EMSA crew members, according to the police report.

Hedge was booked into the Tulsa County jail at about 8:15 p.m.
