OKLAHOMA CITY -- Wednesday's tornadoes did not cause nearly as much destruction as last week's tornado outbreak and many affected by those storms are still trying to put their lives back together.

One of those families is grateful for the generous support coming from total strangers.

The Jones family found out about the local Oklahoma City tornado relief effort through word of mouth, and they are so thankful they did. For a while they sat in limbo because many agencies had no idea they needed help.

Little is left of the Jones family home outside Lexington.

"I started crying before we ever got up there," said Lisa Jones. "I knew it was going to be bad, it was pretty rough."

All they were able to salvage were some clothes and a few pictures.

"The boys, they had a rough time with it, that's the only home they've ever known," said Nick Jones. "They've lived there all their life."

Luckily the Jones family had the house to put a roof over their heads. But a quick look inside shows it's not ready to live in yet.

"We don't have any electric or water in here yet, eventually we will get there," said Nick Jones. "This is where we are sleeping at. At least it's dry."

They are just thankful so many people donated so much stuff to help them get back on their feet and make this house feel more like a home.

"I was just amazed at all the people who came and helped I was shocked that, that many people came and showed up," Lisa Jones said.

The Jones family can't express their gratitude enough.

A fund has been set up for the Jones family at the McClain County Bank. And they are encouraging other families who don't know where to go to the downtown Oklahoma City warehouse. The relief effort has recently been designated as a Red Cross partner.

And that relief effort is in desperate need for more volunteers to help those families out. If you can donate your time, please show up at the old Mel's Towing on 9th Street just east of Broadway. They are located right next to Iguana Lounge.
