MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma -- A joint sting operation of local massage parlors by Midwest City and Oklahoma City Police Departments, resulted in one arrest Friday. Yong Sun Fountain, 51, was booked on a soliciting complaint.

Officers from the special investigations and vice squad units went to Tomo Spa, 1403 S. Midwest Boulevard, at about 4:45 p.m. An undercover officer requested a massage, and Fountain escorted him to a room where the massage began.

According to a press release, Fountain then asked the officer if he had money for a tip, and he said that he did. The suspect then began to fondle the officer's genitals. That's when the officer gave a prearranged signal to a nearby arrest team.

"We will continue to deter this type of illegal activity throughout Midwest City with operations such as this and also focus on the sale of sex via the Internet," said Midwest City Police Chief Brandon Clabes. "Illegal prostitution goes on everywhere, and our message to the offenders is simple: if you do it in Midwest City, you will eventually be arrested, convicted and hopefully your business shut down."

Fountain, whose name is listed on the occupancy permit for the business, posted a $1,658 bond and was released from jail.

As for why Fountain's parlor was targeted as part of their sting, Chief Clabes said at some point before yesterday an officer on other police business had just stopped off there at the parlor and was greeted by a masseuse wearing nothing but her bra and underwear.

Some in the community said they were disturbed at the news of Fountain's arrest.

"That's a little odd. You don't want that stuff in your local neighborhood with school right over there and kids playing in the field," said Bronson Caldwell, who lives near the Tomo Spa.

But while those in the nearby neighborhood said they were surprised, they also said they had their suspicions.

"It was a little fishy. Every now and then they would come out in their skimpy outfits," Caldwell said.

Fountain's arrest at Tomo Spa was just one on a list of several parlors that have also been busted for similar activity. Earlier this year, Sun Aldrich was arrested for soliciting prostitution out of the Oriental Tokyo Health Massage in Norman. Last year, the Bay Spa in Edmond was shut down and some of their employees were arrested.

Incidents such as those have police saying they feel like they are fighting an uphill battle.

"You add into the Internet aspect of it too, it's really pretty readily available for anyone that wants to venture into that avenue of sexual deviation," Clabes said.

But while police said they recognize they may be fighting a battle they can't win, they said they have no intentions of letting it go on.

Clabes said out of the three massage parlors in Midwest City that were targeted as part of the police sting, only Fountain was arrested.

Fountain now faces charges of Soliciting for Illegal Purposes and Disorder House.
