OKLAHOMA CITY -- The call for volunteers in rural areas of Oklahoma County was met with a host of volunteers. Close to 200 people signed up Tuesday to help fellow Oklahomans cleanup.

Oklahoma County Commissioner Brian Maughan launched the cleanup effort. He said a large portion of tornado damage is in the unincorporated areas of Oklahoma County. The areas do not have municipal emergency crews to help and the county crews need help from the public.

"A lot of volunteers and folks rolled in this morning, and I don't know exactly where they came from," said Allen Reisigl, who lost his home during Monday's tornado outbreak. "I just want to thank any of the volunteers, all volunteers no matter where you're helping out, thank you. It's a good thing. I think that certain parts of the country you would not get this assistance."

Lisa Bradley, who said she heard the call for volunteers on the radio, brought her two children with her to help dig for memories, to help move, and move on.

"Just being able to help in the slightest bit I think it puts good energy out there I'd like to pass it on to try and teach my kids something," Bradley said. "They'll grow from it."

Anyone who would like to volunteer is asked to show up at the Oklahoma County District 2 Barn which is located at 7501 S. Anderson. Volunteer hours are between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The effort will continue Wednesday and likely through at least the end of the week.
