OKLAHOMA CITY – Dozens of Oklahomans hugged a building downtown in protest Monday. They oppose SandRidge Energy's plan to improve the area surrounding its headquarters.

The plan calls for several buildings to come down including the old Oklahoma Savings and Loan building on the corner of North Robinson and Robert S Kerr.

"There's always going to be new buildings and change in cities, it's just a matter of balancing that change with the history and identity of the city so you don't erase all that with one fell swoop," said Katie Friddle, the Exec. Director of Preservation Oklahoma.

The group Preservation Oklahoma has filed an appeal with the city. They plan to meet with SandRidge later this week.
