Vian Man Killed In Single-Car Wreck

A 27-year-old Vian man was killed in a single car accident at 5 p.m Sunday in Sequoyah County.

SEQUOYAH COUNTY -- A 27-year-old Vian man was killed in a single-car accident at 5 p.m Sunday in Sequoyah County.  Justin Kyle Phillips was ejected 32 feet from his 1995 Chevrolet PK and pronounced dead at the scene from and head and internal injuries.

Phillips was driving southbound on County Road Mail Route Road when his vehicle left the roadway to the left, re-entered the roadway then went off the road to the right, rolling one time.

A wet road contributed to the accident, according to a report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. The trooper's report also noted that there was an odor of alcohol present.

Phillips was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the wreck.
