OKLAHOMA CITY -- A bomb squad was called out to Northwest 23rd Street and Ann Arbor Tuesday night after police received a report of a suspicious package at a shopping center. Investigators later discovered the package contained cookies.

Oklahoma City Police blocked off Northwest 23rd Street between Ann Arbor and Meridian while they investigated the package. Officials also cleared out the Windsor Hills Shopping Plaza.

Officers said they were eating at the plaza when they were notified of a suspicious package near the area at about 7:55 p.m.

The package was addressed and was sitting on top of a group of mailboxes near the old Hollywood Video. The mailboxes included two from the USPS and one from UPS.

"We'd rather be safe than sorry. It's unusual to find a package sitting on top of the drop box versus inside. It may be that the package was just oversized and wouldn't fit. It may be, you know, we don't know. Just to be safe, we're going to have it checked out," said Oklahoma City Police Capt. Dee Patty.

Police said they are not exactly sure why the package was left on top of the mailboxes.
