TULSA, OK -- Tulsa police have identified the two officers who shot a man wanted as a person of interest in the burglary of a Tulsa police sergeant's home as well as six murders in Oklahoma City has been shot by officers.

The department identifies the men as Officer Victor Regalado and Officer Jack Pike.

Regalado works in the Detective Division and Officer Pike works in the Support Division.  They've been placed on routine administrative leave pending an investigation by the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office under the direction of Tulsa District Attorney Tim Harris.

The incident happened at the Motel 6 at 11th and Garnett just before 6 p.m. Monday.

Tulsa Police, ATF agents and U.S. Marshals had tracked the fugitive, Denny Phillips, 32, to the motel.

Officers say it looked like Phillips was ready to surrender until he bolted down a breezeway.

"He stopped, turned around.  At that point, he had a [handgun in his hand, pointed it at officers and officers fired shots," said Tulsa Police Captain Rick Helberg.

Phillips was hit several times and was taken to St. John hospital in serious condition.

Helberg says Phillips is a federal fugitive, wanted for a number of gun crimes.

Phillips is a person of interest in the burglary of the home of Tulsa Homicide Sergeant Mike Huff.

Phillips is also under investigation in Oklahoma City in the deaths of six people.

Oklahoma County District Attorney says Phillips has been a person of interest since a man and three women -- two pregnant -- were found dead November 9th inside a burned home in Oklahoma City.

Another man has been arrested and charged with six counts of first-degree murder for the deaths.

Oklahoma County district attorney David Prater sent an email yesterday to his office warning employees about Phillips.  He says he had learned of the burglary of a Tulsa police officer's home and was concerned Phillips could gain access to his office, the courthouse or jail if he disguised himself as a Tulsa police officer.

Prater says Phillips was identified as a person of interest just a few weeks after the murders.

Phillips is also connected to a string of Tulsa burglaries.

In a news release early Monday afternoon, the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office said Phillips was not wanted for the burglary of Huff's home, only for questioning.

The burglary happened Wednesday, April 21st, between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.  Some of Huff's family heirlooms, including antique chests containing silver, jewelry from Huff's late mother, and guns passed down from Huff's grandfather, were taken in the burglary.  Several other guns  were taken, as well as Huff's fire engine red 2003 four-door Chevrolet S-10 pickup.
