OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man after an early morning pursuit.
Just before 2 a.m. Sunday a deputy tried to conduct a traffic stop after a car he was driving behind hit a guardrail at S.E. 44 street and I-35. When the deputy turned on his lights and sirens, the suspect drove off at a high rate of speed.
The pursuit ended nearly 10 minutes later when the suspect pulled over near I-35 & N.E. 10th Street.
The suspect, 44-year-old Elias Ortiz resisted arrest, but deputies were able to gain control of the suspect.
When Ortiz was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center, officers found a small bag of methamphetamine on Ortiz.
Ortiz was booked on complaints of DUI, eluding police, resisting arrest, assault and battery on an officer and possession of contraband inside a penal institution.
