OKLAHOMA CITY -- The State Supreme Court has ruled to uphold an Oklahoma County district court judge who ruled the board member's for the State Medical Examiner's Office will have to testify why they fired then chief Medical Examiner Doctor Collie Trant.

Trant was fired by the board with little explanation why back in February. Since then Trant along with his attorney have been fighting to have him reinstated.

However, in light of the district court's decision that would require the board members to testify, the state attorney general's office appealed the decision to the State Supreme Court.

"Not everyone is entitled to know why they lost their job… you can be terminated for any reason or no reason," said Assistant District Attorney Dan Wietman.

But Dr. Trant's attorney said the state's appeal was just another attempt by the state to continue to hide their business from the general public.

"The public ought to be upset, they [the state] want to do everything behind closed doors instead of being open and honest about everything that is going on," Attorney Scott Adams said. "Dr. Trant is simply a whistleblower. They fired him illegally, and we are trying to get it rectified."

The deposition could start as early as Wednesday.
