5 Oklahoma Students Named as Goldwater Scholars

At least 5 Oklahoma college students have been named as recipients of the nationally competitive Goldwater scholarships.

OKLAHOMA CITY - At least five Oklahoma college students have been named as recipients of the nationally competitive Goldwater scholarships.

Two University of Oklahoma students, junior Elizabeth "Elise" Knowlton of Tulsa and sophomore Logan Maingi of Plainsboro, N.J., are on the Goldwater Scholars list, as is Oklahoma State University junior Lydia Meador of Broken Arrow.

Two University of Tulsa students, sophomore Rachel Hoffmann of Searcy, Ark., and junior Zach Winkler of Colorado Springs, Colo., also are on the list.

The Goldwater scholarships are awarded on the basis of potential and intent to pursue careers in math, the natural sciences or engineering. The one- and 2-year scholarships are for up to $7,500 per year.
