Oklahoma's Clear Creek Monastery Becomes Independent Abbey

HULBERT, OK -- Oklahoma's Clear Creek Monastery is celebrating a milestone Saturday.

The monastery is officially breaking ties with its abbey in France and becoming an independent abbey. 

Now called Our Lady of Clear Creek Abbey, 34 monks spend their days in prayer and are now entirely self-sufficient. 

The move is the result of 11 years of work to form an independent abbey in the United States.
