OKLAHOMA CITY --Where can you find chopped Mercs, shoebox Fords, and muscle cars all in one place?  At the 27th Annual Southwest Street Rod Nationals Plus at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds this weekend.

This is the 20th year the show's been held in Oklahoma City. This year also begins a new era for the Nationals. The "Plus" in the title means more cars, more years, and more people according to Jim Rowlett, Marketing Director for the National Street Rod Association.

The "street rod" by definition is a car that's pre-1949, but this year's event opens up vehicles up to 1980. This is the first year for our open concept," said Rowlett. "You'll find a little bit of everything."

And the street rods aren't all parked at the fairgrounds. You'll probably see them tooling around all over town this weekend.  That's because most of the owners don't haul their custom cars from all over the country, they drive them.  Rowlett mentioned a bumper sticker he owns.

"It says 'If you see this car on a trailer, call 911-it's been stolen'," he laughed.

THE 27TH ANNUAL SOUTHWEST STREET ROD NATIONALS PLUS HAPPENS APRIL 9-11 AT THE OKLAHOMA STATE FAIRGROUNDS. VISIT www.nsra-usa.com FOR MORE INFO.
