OKLAHOMA CITY -- No suspect was found in a northwest Oklahoma City home police thought was involved in a standoff.

Police were originally called to a home in the 1900 block of Northwest Ninth Street after a report of shots being fired Friday morning.

"We know that there were shots fired, we believe someone may be in that house involved in this, we are doing are best right now to make contact," Oklahoma City Police Sgt. Gary Knight said.

However, at 2:45 police obtained a search warrant for the home they believe the suspect was in. After sending in a robot and a tactical team, police reported the home was empty. They are now searching for the suspect.

"We certainly want to air on the side of caution when something like this happens and make sure no one gets hurt," Knight said.

At 1 p.m. officers using a megaphone speaker could be heard trying to communicate with someone named Michael.

Friday morning, police blocked off two surrounding blocks and evacuated houses in the area.

"We do not have anybody that's been hit by gunfire that we've been notified of," Knight said.

Knight said neighbors told him the suspect was standing out in the street shooting a gun at a vehicle as it drove away at about 7:30 a.m. Police originally believed the suspect was inside one of the houses in the area with a high-powered rifle.

"Five very loud gun shots woke us up, and I called 911 as soon as I heard gunshots and then they told me to move cause they think the people across the street have got a rifle aimed toward them and my house," Virginia, a neighbor, said.

Police said they have identified the suspect, but have not released his name at this time.
