A number of high tech toys are hitting the market from Apple's new iPad to 3-D T.V.s.

The first 3-D T.V. sets are now available and the picture is absolutely amazing. Yes you'll have to wear special electronic version 3-D glasses to watch, but they aren't needed for regular T.V. Of course there isn't a whole lot you can watch as content is extremely limited, and you'll need a Blu-ray disc player that is made for 3-D.

In case you're wondering, as of today when it comes out on disc, Avatar won't be in 3-D. But coming this summer ESPN has said it plans to have some sporting events in 3-D starting with the 2010 World Cup match.

A new higher capacity Blu-ray disc has also just been announced that doubles the information storage capacity of current Blu-ray discs. It's currently planned for data storage but will migrate to video. Of course the new disc is not backwards compatible with the current players.

For Apple aficionados, the first generation iPads are out. It has Wi-Fi, is fast, slick, slim and a really cool toy. Why do I call it a toy? The next iPad will also have cellular capability and is scheduled to be available in a few weeks. But now, you can only run one app at a time, you can't multi-task and all apps, the software applications, have to be purchased from Apple, no going to an office store to get one. It also doesn't have something called Adobe Flash, which runs a lot of Web pages, and the screen washes out in sunlight - making it hard to read outside. Future generations will probably correct some of these short comings, like the upcoming generation 4 of the iPhone is scheduled to be able to multi-task.
