OKLAHOMA CITY -- In the past two weeks, several interstate billboards have posted a mysterious message. It simply says "THE END IS NEAR."

The billboards belong to Lamar Advertising of Oklahoma City. NEWS 9 e-mailed Bill Condon, the Vice President of Lamar Advertising to inquire about the message and who is behind it.

"I'm not at liberty to discuss," Condon said in a reply e-mail. "You'll know in a couple of weeks."

The message has many Oklahomans talking on sites like Twitter and Facebook.

"There's one by my office. I hoping they come back in a week and add a line that says '...to Obama's presidency,'" said Marilyn Davidson on Facebook.

"2012. The Rapture. You know the spill, but even when the rapture starts, some of us still have seven years, so it's a bit soon for the sign," Dan Smith said.

"Maybe the end of all plain billboards and they are changing them all over to the computer/monitor screens instead??" Allison Nicole said.
