OKLAHOMA CITY -- Police are investigating a hit-and-run wreck that killed a pedestrian.

The incident happened at about S.W. 40th Street and Robinson Avenue. Police say a 1997 green Dodge Dakota pickup hit 56-year-old Robert Hayes and dragged him for a dozen blocks. Hayes' body was dislodged at S.W. 29th Street and Stiles where he was hit by another vehicle. The people in that vehicle stopped and stayed at the scene for first responders. The driver of the Dodge left the scene.

Police believe Hayes was lying in the road in an attempt to commit suicide.

Police are looking for the 1997 dark-colored Dodge Dakota truck with an old or faded tailgate. Anyone with information regarding this case should call Crime Stoppers at 235-7300. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
