Oklahoma City Mayor Makes MAPS 3 Citizens Advisory Board Nominations

Mayor Mick Cornett's nominations for the MAPS 3 Citizens Advisory Board were made public Friday afternoon.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett's nominations for the MAPS 3 Citizens Advisory Board were made public Friday afternoon.

Cornett's nominations came from a pool of over 300 applicants.

The 11-member MAPS 3 Citizens Advisory Board will be responsible for reviewing MAPS 3 projects and then making recommendations to the City Council. The Advisory Board is made up of one person from each ward, two at-large members, and one city councilperson.

The nominees are:

Tom McDaniel, OCU President - At-Large (Chairman)

Dee Morales, Freelance TV producer - At-Large

Susan Hooper, Retired teacher/principal - Ward 1

Michael Dover, CEO of Variety Care (health care) - Ward 2

Kimberly Lowe, Self-employed Advertising and PR - Ward 3

Zane Boatright, Tinker Air Force Base - Ward 4

Michael Adams, VP of LSB Industries - Ward 5

Nathaniel Harding, Harding and Shelton - Ward 6

Wayne Williams, ONG Engineer - Ward 7

Rusty LaForge, Attorney at McAfee & Taft - Ward 8

Larry McAtee, Council Member - Ward 3

The council still has to approve the nominations. That's expected to happen at Tuesday's council meeting on March 30.

Tom McDaniel is currently the President of Oklahoma City University and has been nominated to be the Chairman of the Citizens Advisory Board.

"I'm thrilled to be considered. I've been excited about MAPS 3 since the beginning because I see it as a better future for my children and grandchildren," McDaniel said.

Collection of the MAPS 3 sales tax is set to begin on April 1.
