OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma's legislature took another step toward rejecting the national health care law which mandates that everyone must carry insurance.
Senate Joint Resolution 59 passed the Oklahoma House by 82-18 vote late Tuesday afternoon. It passed out of the senate late Monday and will likely go to a vote of the people this November.
But some constitutional experts said the measure is more of a symbolic gesture because federal law trumps state laws. Despite that view, lawmakers said they'll continue their push.
Read the resolution exempting Oklahoma from health care; No. 1054.
There are two other similar measures being taken up in the Senate right now.
