EDMOND, Oklahoma -- Some UCO students are making a difference locally for Spring Break with the Flipside Project.
Students are volunteering at the City Rescue Mission for the next few days. Monday morning they cleaned the playground and spent the afternoon cleaning inside.
"There are still less fortunate people out there we need to give back to them and always keep them in the back of our minds. And we always need to be willing to give a helping hand," said Nathan Box, coordinator for UCO Commuter Student Services
Organizers hope the students will continue to give back to the community even after they graduate.
"What we're trying to instill in our students is a lifelong love of giving back to the community. College students are in a very unique position. They've been given a gift really in my eyes and that's to give to higher education and I think with higher education comes a great deal of responsibility," Box said.
