OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma Corporation Commission has postponed a proposal that would offer free, statewide long-distance calling until next year.

Commissioners said they felt the proposal was being rushed into implementation.

Some said toll-free calling across the state could lead to a fee of more than $3 on every phone number in the state, cell or landline.

"We're dealing with many complicated things in many areas. I just felt like it seemed like important for us to take the time that we needed," said Oklahoma Corporation Commissioner Dana Murphy.

The commission delayed the target date for putting the plan into place until next January 19, 2011.
