Mother Takes Off, Crashes with Child in the Car

MOORE, Oklahoma -- An Oklahoma mother told police she panicked and took off when police try to pull her over, all with her baby on board.

Officers said the woman in her early 20's ran a stop sign, but then took off. After several miles she hit a curb and blew out all her tires. Officers soon learned about her 15-month-old daughter in the back seat.

"She was frantic. She was yelling. After police got there she was yelling about her baby that she wanted to hold her baby, get her baby, but when she was pacing back and forth she made no attempt to open the door or get her baby, So I don't know," said Charles Barnes, who witnessed the incident.

Officers got the little girl out of the car and said the child didn't look too shaken up. Police said the mother realized she made a big mistake.

"Once it's all over, she admits it was very stupid, especially with a child in the car. She realizes she really screwed up there," said Moore Police Sgt Jeremy Lewis.

The woman said she ran because she didn't have a driver's license.
