OKLAHOMA CITY -- In the city's latest effort to achieve "Big League City" status, Oklahoma City has begun preparations for an American Le Mans series race in the summer of 2012.

In Tuesday's City Council meeting, a vote will be held to determine whether city manager Jim Couch will enter into negotiations with Oklahoma City Grand Prix, LLC, which would spearhead the charge for the race.

Under the mayor's proposal, the track would run through Bricktown, offering a unique sports car racing experience to fans.

Oklahoma City Grand Prix, LLC has been working for the last three years to bring racing to Bricktown.
