NORMAN, Oklahoma -- Forty of Oklahoma's finest are preparing to head overseas. The Oklahoma Air National Guard will head to Afghanistan later this month.
They'll be away from their families for about six months so Sunday they gathered in Norman to make sure everyone is Yellow Ribbon Ready.
The event is designed to ease the guardsmen and their families.
"It's helped my parents a lot because I'm the baby and they've never been through this before so they're kind of understanding it a lot more than the way I explain it," said A1C Charity Bowman.
While in Afghanistan, the troops will work on technology along the front lines.
