OKLAHOMA CITY -- A University of Oklahoma student found proof of snow in all 50 states at the same time.

Patrick Marsh, a meteorology student, attempted to collect photographs showing snow somewhere on the ground in each state last Friday.

He said Hawaii was the hardest place to find snow, and although it's likely somewhere in the mountains, he was lacking a photograph to prove it.

On Saturday, Marsh wrote on his blog: "woke up this morning feeling good about what was accomplished regarding the Snow Shot of America project, but slightly disappointed that I ended the day with 49/50 states (along with Washington D.C.)."

Marsh was ready to give up when he discovered an e-mail from a Hawaiian resident who claimed to have taken pictures of several small patches of snow located not far from the 13,796 foot summit of Mauna Kea on the Big Island of Hawaii. Marsh said the snow is leftover from a November storm.

"I immediately sent the photographs to the National Weather Service office in Honolulu, Hawaii to examine the photographs to make sure that everything looked legitimate," Marsh wrote in his blog.

After confirming the photos were legit, Marsh wrote:

"And with that, I have good reason to believe that on 12 February 2010, there was snow on the ground in all 50 states (and Washington D.C.) simultaneously. Not a lot of snow in every state, but thanks to the adventurous spirits of four individuals, there is photographic proof of some small snow patches in Hawaii, and this completes the Snow Shot of America!"
