Oklahoma City School Board Incumbents Defeated in Elections

Challengers who have never run for a public office unseated two Oklahoma City school board members. <br /><br />&nbsp;

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Challengers who had never run for a public office unseated two Oklahoma City school board members.

In Office 5, Ruth Veales received 72.55 percent of the votes defeating Thelma Parks who received 27.45 percent. Parks had been on the school board since 1988.

In Office 7, Wilfredo Santos-Rivera received 19.59 percent of the vote and will lose his seat of three years to either Ron Millican or Larry Collins. Neither candidate was able to get the necessary majority.

Ron Millican received 48.66 percent of the votes while Larry Collins received 31.75 percent. A runoff election between Millican and Collins is scheduled for April 6.

Edmond Office 5: Kemp Cole - 74.67% (513 votes)
                            Susan Huffer - 25.33% (174 votes)

Harrah Office 5: Brenda Lusher - 64.02 % (105 votes)
                          Terry Knoch - 35.98% (59 votes)

McLoud Office 5: Jim Walker - 50% (2 votes)
                          Joe Nolen- 50% (2 votes)

Mustang Office 5: Mike Buckley - 66.67% (2 votes)
                            Chad Fulton - 33.33% (1 vote)

Piedmont Office 5: Jerrod Moser - 73.68% (14 votes)
                              Lisa Gigstad - 26.32% (5 votes)

Putnam City Office 5: Gail LoPresto - 62.15% (225)
                                  Melisa Tucker - 37.85% (137)

                                                 Proposition 2 - Passed
