OKLAHOMA CITY -- As Oklahomans continue to open their hearts and wallets to help with the Haitian relief efforts, schools around the metro are also reaching out.

In Edmond, the Ida Freeman Elementary School is fundraising money this week to help the earthquake victims. The class that raises the most money gets a special prize; a teacher will get a pie in the face.

"We are raising money and putting money in all these boxes and the teacher with the most money gets a pie in the face," explained 3rd grader Emma Dungan.

It's payback time and teachers are taking one for the team.

"When I get my allowance I'm going to put a lot of money in there," said 5th grader Brandon Helstowski.

Brandon has his eye on a certain teacher because she took away ice cream on Wednesdays. While you never mess with a kid's dessert, Brandon said he does just want to help out Haiti.

Emma didn't even think twice about what teacher she wants to see get creamed by a pie in the face.

"Mr. Nichols," Emma said. "Cause he told me not to vote for him and it just makes me more tempted."

He may not even be one of her teachers, but all of them are willing to sacrifice for a good cause even though only one lucky teacher will get a taste.

Mr. Nichols seems to be the top target as the 5th grade math teacher.

"I think some of it is retaliation," Mr. Nichols said. "I expected it and I've been putting money in the other teachers boxes as we go along so I'm trying to fight back against the tide a little bit."

The pie in the face is one surprise students like Brandon and Emma are counting down to.

"It means a lot to me because I like helping people who doesn't have as much as all of us do," Brandon said.

Emma agrees that helping others is bigger than a pie in the face.

"So Haiti can have more money and like build a hospital for all the hurt people and buy medicine for them," Emma said.

The school hopes to raise about $300 dollars by the end of next week and that's when students and teachers will find out who'll get a whip cream pie surprise.

All the money raised at Ida Freeman Elementary will go to The Salvation Army.

Edmond North High School and their ROTC are also helping in Haiti relief efforts. They are teaming up with Feed the Children in a Haiti relief drive by collecting water, new blankets and non-perishable food items for the cause. If you'd like to donate, a drive-by drop off is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday to Friday.
