NORMAN, Oklahoma – A Norman family is relieved to find out the status of a 4-year-old boy they are trying to adopt from Haiti.

Kathy Presley says the orphanage 4-year-old Christopher was staying in did collapse from the earthquake, but he escaped with just a few cuts and bruises.

Presley said she's thankful to know he is OK, but now is worried about his future.

"The orphanage is gone," she said. "He's having to sleep outside on the ground."

The family now is trying to get through red tape to get their son home to Oklahoma.  While they have the appropriate paperwork on their end, the concern is the papers in Haiti got lost in the earthquake's chaos.

The Presleys have adopted from Haiti before. Their daughter Eliana came to Oklahoma from Haiti when she about 6 years old, years ago.  On a recent visit to Haiti, Eliana discovered her brother Christopher in an orphanage.  The Presley family immediately started to work on adopting him.  She's hoping the earthquake doesn't delay an already lengthy process.

"My husband has tried calling our state senators and representatives to see if there is any way we can get Christopher home faster," Kathy Presley said "We would go get him today if we could get the clearance."
